iPod Nano Crisis!
So I got an iPod, set it up with my brand new hp quad core killer computer, all was fine and dandy, then my computer starting messing up so I had to restore it to its original settings. When I downloaded from apple iTunes again and attached my iPod to the computer I couldn't get my songs off the iPod. They were nowhere to be found. I even went to my computer->iPod drive->and when I opened it up it didn't show any of my music. Weird thing is all the songs are still on there when I turn it on and listen to it. I can't get any new songs on there and it's really upsetting. I messed around for two hours last night looking up online how to do it and I don't know if my iPod is messed up or what but when it is connected to the computer it shows NOTHING inside. I'm so frustrated!!!!!! Will my 30GB iPod be sitting there nearly empty forever? I only have 1200 songs because I haven't figured out how to add more since my computer messed up months ago. This is a nightmare.

Possible Answer:
I am pretty positive if I remember this right. Follow these steps: open the driver up from "my computer". at the top of the screen you have tabs, like "file", "edit", "view", "tools". one of them is going to have a drop down that says "show hidden files". Like I said, it goes something like this, but I cant remember exactly because I don't have apple anymore. this should show you the songs. For putting songs on, you drag and drop from that same screen.
You can use another software like Winamp with the iPod plugin. It will show you the songs on your iPod and let you copy them to your hard-drive. If your songs do not show up, there is a repair function that may rebuild the song database for you. You will then have to re-import them into iTunes. It is possible that iTunes has a repair function as well that will let you do this.
I use Winamp (even the free version will do all of this) which to me seems to be more flexible with a drag and drop approach rather than syncing like iTunes. Not sure how it deals with the iTunes licensing issues though.
Hope this helps, good luck.
